Over the past couple of years I have been enjoying tackling some figurative work.
Portrait painting is a demanding area, as we all see different characteristics in our subjects, and it's easy to slide into caricature.
My aim is to achieve a likeness, but not at the expense of an interesting image.
If I start a piece, and I like the image, even if its not a real likeness I will usually leave it and start again, rather than try and and change it too much.
