This piece was inspired by the book 'The Vintner's Luck ' by Elizabeth Knox. It was carved from an old tree that was being removed from a new car park site just as I happened to be looking for some wood. The workmen clearing the site very kindly dragged it to my garage for me with their digger, I think they thought I was some kind of mad woman!
The carving was on show at The Pride of the Valley Sculpture Park in Churt, Surrey, where I think it weathered in somewhat. It has since been bought by a private buyer and have no idea where it ended up, which I am rather sad about. In retrospect I wish I'd kept it.
